This is a Misonix/Heat Systems CL4 20 kHz ultrasonic converter horn.
A generator unit or power supply feeds an electrical signal to piezoelectric crystals mounted in the converter. The active elements of the converter then vibrate at that same frequency. The vibration is amplified and transferred to the distal end (tip) by the horn.
The CL4 converter horn is used on the following Misonix sonicators:
