GNF Airlift Fermentation System
Sales price $35,000.00
Description

The GNF airlift fermenter is designed to provide a controlled environment for the growth of gas-agitated microbial cultures. The system controls temperature via a heated water bath. It is also capable of delivering a mixture of two gases (for example compressed air and oxygen) in any ratio; this ratio may be varied either linearly or step-wise during the course of a fermentation. Gas is delivered via 96 individual cannulae, each of which has a small set of holes at the end. This produces a fine mist of bubbles in each of the cultures. The bubbles serve two purposes: first they deliver gas to the culture. Secondly they provide agitation for the cultures. OD650nm of such a culture at the end of log phase is in the range 30-50. This is equivalent to approximately 10mg of soluble protein per culture. The system is designed to receive up to 96 inocula from the Biomek liquid handling robot and growth takes place in 100ml round bottomed centrifuge tubes.
