Eppendorf CryoCube F740hi is a high-efficiency air-cooled ultra-low temperature (ULT) freezer for long-term storage of laboratory samples. It uses a two-stage cascade system with hydrocarbon refrigerants, vacuum insulation panels plus foam, a touchscreen interface, and flexible 100–230 V operation. The attached plate (Mfg. No. F740320031, Serial F740KL573183) matches a 5-compartment F740hi configuration.
Key features/specifications
Capacity and layout — 740 L (26.1 ft³). 3- or 5-compartment versions with 3 inner doors; up to 576 × 2-inch boxes (~57,600 samples) or 528 boxes (~52,800 samples) depending on compartment count. Max 18 or 30 racks.
Temperature performance — Set range −50 °C to −86 °C. Typical pull-down from ambient to −80 °C is about 4 h 10 min; designed for fast door-open recovery and long warm-up time if power is lost.
Energy use and refrigerants — High-efficiency model: about 10.5 kWh/day at −80 °C (230 V). Green refrigerants R290 (high stage, ~96 g) / R170 (low stage, ~100–106 g). Noise ~41.3 dB. ACT / My Green Lab recognized.
Construction and insulation — Stainless-steel interior, powder-coated exterior. 80 mm walls with vacuum insulation panels (VIP) + polyurethane foam. Two access ports, heated vent, lockable switch cover, optional CO₂/LN₂ backup. Net weight on this unit’s plate: 349 kg.
Electrical and interface — 100–230 V ±10 %, 50/60 Hz; current rating 15 A–6 A (as specified). Integrated inverter for multi-voltage use. VisioNize touchscreen with data logging, USB export, password/access control, Ethernet/RS-485 and remote-alarm contacts. External dimensions typically ~111 × 98 × 197.3 cm.
