Description

The Lab-Line incubator model 120 is a very small (1 cubic foot), low temperature lab incubator. This incubator features an adjustable thermostat, adjustable air vent, pilot light, and gasketed door.

The incubator is designed for non-critical incubations at slightly above ambient temperature, up to 60 degrees Celsius. With a tiny footprint (36.5 cm by 33.5 cm) and low weight(12.2 kg), the unit doesn't take up much space and is economical to order and ship. Its temperature characteristics (+/- 0.5 Celsius) should be fine for many applications.

Although small, this incubator happily holds quite a few microtiter plates, a couple of medium-sized tupperware containers, or about a dozen 100 mm tissue culture plates. It comes with a single shelf and a thermometer (and top-mounted port) for temperature monitoring.

This is the lowest-cost, small incubator I have found, and for my own application (incubation of microtiter plates at 42 Celsius) it is perfect. Users wanting larger capacity and more precise temperature control will want to look at different products. However, for a small lab needing low-temperature incubation for a reasonably small number of samples and/or plates, this is probably the best choice. Barnstead/Thermoline is an excellent brand name, and this product, although at the bottom of their price range, works well and reliably.
